چکیده

U.v. irradiation of SH-RP cells, a lymphoblastoid cell line carrying EpsteinBarr virus, which was derived from a patient with acute myeloid leukaemia, retarded cell growth but significantly enhanced the percentage of cells containing virus-capsid antigen (VCA) as demonstrated by indirect immunofluorescence. The effects of u.v. irradiation on SH-RP cultures were reversible under normal conditions of medium replenishment every four days. Starving the cultures did not modify these effects.

Seropidemiology of Epstein – Barr virus infection among asymptomatic

Introduction: Epstein – Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus which establishes a persistent life-long infection in over 95% of adults world wide. Infection is usually asymptomatic but the virus is associated with a variety of disease, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), Burkitt’s lymphoma (BL), Multiple sclerosis MS, EBV-associated B-cell lymphoproliferative disease (BLPD), Hodgkin and non...

Re-exposure of human lymphoblastoid cell lines to Epstein-Barr virus.

Human lymphoblastoid lines of various origins which harbour Epstein-Burr virus (EBV)-specific nucleic acid were re-exposed to EBV. Following infection, cells of the non-virus-producing lines, Raji and S 95, predominantly synthesized EB V-specific early antigens ( E A ) , whereas only a small percentage of cells revealed viral capsid antigens ( VCA). In Raji cells, the number of VCA-producing ce...

High Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) susceptibility of both lymphoblastoid and lymphoma cell lines derived from a Japanese patient with EBV genome-positive Burkitt's lymphoma.

A Lymphoma cell line from the tumor tissue was established spontaneously from a Japanese patient with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) genome-positive Burkitt's lymphoma (BL). Additionally lymphoblastoid cell lines from peripheral blood of this patient were established either spontaneously or by in vitro infection with B95-8 EBV. Lymphoma cells showed monoclonal surface immunoglobulins (kappa and gamma...

Comparison of Epstein Barr virus antibodies and Tcell cytokines production in patients with multiple sclerosis and healthy individuals

Abstract   Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common autoimmune disease of central nervous system with destruction of myelin sheath mediated by auto reactive CD4+ T Lymphocytes. Because of the possible role of Epstein-Barr virus in etiology of MS and T cells immune response, the aim of this study was to evaluate anti-Epstein Barr virus antibodies as a marker of reactivity and p...
